Darkover 2002
FRIDAY
6:00 PM - More Than a Miracle (1966) 6:00 PM: More Than a Miracle (1966) color, letterboxed. An arrogant prince, witches, a flying monk, a peasant girl, and it looks like a fairy tale too.
8:00 PM - Harakiri (and the original title is Seppuku, to underline it) (1962, dir. Masaki Kobayashi) With Tetsuya Nakadai. Remarkably violent even for a samurai movie.
10:30 PM - The Stone Tape Script by Nigel Kneale, of the Quatermass movies. A computer company looking for a new recording material finds themselves anticipated by 1000s of years. Maybe the most quietly frightening movie you will ever see.
Midnight - Vivid Video Bloopers
SATURDAY
2:00 PM - The Justice League of America live action pilot, never aired.
3:30 PM - Queen Kong (1977) The all-female crew of a documentary film-maker kidnap Ray Fay and tie him to a picnic table as a sacrifice to a giant female gorilla! It's a musical.
5:00 PM - Ghosts on Parade Kappas, tengus, a mujina, and other Japanese folklore creatures drive out a foreign devil. Important note to Japanimation types: this is live-action! Unfortunately, it is untranslated, but you can follow it fairly easily.
6:30 PM - The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit From the Bradbury story, which wasn't really fantasy, but the movie pretty much is.
8:00 PM - The Kid (2000) Animation from Gahan Wilson cartoons. Not really for kids despite the title.
9:15 PM - The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) You've seen it? So?
12:15 PM - Starship Intercourse. Guess.
SUNDAY
As with the last couple of years, the Sunday videos are aimed at children, though not exclusively.
10:30 AM - Asterix Conquers America One of the later cartoon features, made with German money. This is not exactly Asterix and the Great Crossing.
Noon - The Nightmare Before Christmas Puppet animation about on a level with Starevich.
